Igniting Innovation Business Boot Camps

The Igniting Innovation Business boot camps are intense two-day workshops that provide the tools and hands-on mentorship to help participants understand the business behind successful technology companies. These workshops help technology entrepreneurs develop a business plan with relevant market strategies and will also help participants understand how to finance technology ventures via angel or venture capital. The boot camp also introduces participants to sales and marketing strategies, financial statement fundamentals, corporate structures, intellectual property, and best practices for developing a high-performing team.

This workshop is taught by experienced technology startup executives that have founded technology companies and raised venture capital for their companies. These executives, which are TRDA Executives-In-Residence, will be joined by experienced legal, accounting and operations professionals that understand the dynamics of early-stage technology companies.

TRDA Business Acceleration Workshops

The TRDA offers a variety of one-day workshops that “deep dive” on specific business development topics that entrepreneurs need to understand to grow their business ventures. Workshop topics include:

• Funding Technology Companies - Introduction to angel investors, venture capitalists and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program. Topics covered include valuation basics, term sheets, SBIR eligibility criteria, and how to develop and investor presentations
• Strategic Selling - Learn the fundamentals of how to build strategic relationships with current and potential customers. The workshop also covers the fundamentals of building a sales team, sales pipeline development and tools that assist with customer relationship management (CRM).
• Developing Realistic Financial Statements - Participants are introduced to the basics of financial statements and are able to walk through a live example of a pro forma template. The workshop also introduces participants to business model development, financial assumptions expected by investors, and realistic revenue and expense projections.
• Legal Topics for Startups - This workshop covers legal structures, employment agreements, non-disclosures, intellectual property and best practices in contracts and proposals.
• Online Marketing - Experienced marketing professionals lead this workshop, which introduces participants to methodologies for increasing lead generation and online presence. Topics covered include website design strategies, search engine optimization, online directories, using social networking and blogs, and other online marketing best practices.
