Information Technology for Education Policymakers (ITEP)


 

The ITEP program is the only one of its kind that educates and provides policy makers with useful information about technology, its relation to university and college environments and its use in the classroom. Through a series of training sessions, participants gain a measurable knowledge of technology, acquire hands-on time with the latest technology and become better-informed decision makers in the area of technology. Classes are administered by the TRDA and taught at the individual school districts by technology experts from The Astronauts Memorial Foundation (AMF), NASA and professional technology trainers in the field of education. program within two years.

                                
The ITEP Training Sessions
The ITEP program is presented in two separate training sessions, or modules:

Module 1
A three-hour session conducted on-site at each of the school districts. Trainers lecture, lead discussion and guide participants through hands-on activities using a wireless lab. Training focuses on the following:
· Issues concerning hardware and software costs
· Networking
· Internet and its uses
· Resource allocation and management
· District-level technology policies

Module 2
A two-hour videoconference session conducted by AMF trainers at The Center for Space Education. The session focuses on staff development and related issues, as well as brief overview of Module 1 and a question/answer period.
