Small Scale Approach to Chemical Instrumentation

This program - commonly known as Small Scale Chemistry -- uses an innovative, hands-on approach that relies on everyday items to teaching general chemistry. Students use inexpensive and readily available equipment (i.e. toothpicks, straws, plastic pipes, etc.) to perform sophisticated chemical experiments that traditionally require costly glassware, reagents and instrumentation. This new approach to chemistry does not minimize the traditional chemistry laboratory, but rather promotes creativity and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiments.
