Florida proudly joins a consortium of over 30 other states participating in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industries of the Future (IOF) initiative.

By including IOF in its statewide efforts, Florida is embarking on a concentrated plan to help its energy intensive industries reduce energy use, increase pollution prevention, and become more cost competitive. In 2000-03 Florida will focus on the State’s fiberglass industry, helping it to employ the latest energy efficient technologies, reduce the cost of non-proprietary R&D, gain access to scientific resources at state and national labs, and compete more effectively. In the years to come Florida will apply the IOF strategy to other targeted IOF industries such as agriculture, aluminum, chemicals, forest products, mining, metal casting, petroleum and steel.
