MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two medical device companies and a software services enterprise are the three newest businesses to be served by the TRDA Business Innovation Center, the signature business incubation program of Florida’s Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA).
Abilities MedTech, a medical device company, manufactures and distributes a multi-task lifting device for the disabled. NexGen, another medical device company, is developing a portfolio of innovative health-related products. Headquartered in Reno, Nev., the company’s Florida office will be housed in the TRDA Business Innovation Center. Eikona Systems specializes in distributed military training, transportation, remote data acquisition and in-flight entertainment systems and software services.
Launched in May 2007, the TRDA Business Innovation Center helps start-up technology firms in Central Florida grow into financially viable, freestanding, high-growth companies. It offers clients access to modern office space, shared office resources, business services, professional development and training, investor networking and more for one monthly fee. Currently, there are nine tenants. By 2011, it will serve 30 to 35 new or expanding technology businesses in the area and create 70 to 100 jobs.
