FNBIC Graduates Twelfth Business

Information Technology Management Company NetLander

TITUSVILLE, FLA. – After a successful three-year stay, NetLander, an Information Technology Management Company, became the twelfth tenant to graduate from Florida/NASA Business Incubation Center (FNBIC). The graduation ceremony included remarks from Dave Kershaw, FNBIC director and special guests Jim Jennings, Deputy Director of NASA-KSC; Dr. Albert Kolher, Brevard Community College; and Frank Kinney, Executive Director of the TRDA.

NetLander provides high technology computer products and system development services to the manufacturing, simulation and aerospace markets. The company began in 1998 with two employees and moved into the incubator in March of that year. Through the incubator relationship with NASA, FNBIC helped NetLander license NASA technology, known as JView, for commercialization in June 1998. While in the incubator, the company continued to grow its services business and bring the NASA technology to a BETA testing stage.

Now three years later, NetLander boasts 15 employees and a 780 percent increase in sales from the launch of the company. The company has received numerous accolades including a nomination for KSC Subcontractor of the Year and a ranking in the Top 25 Software Companies in Central Florida by the Orlando Business Journal.

“FNBIC offered a solid foundation for launching our new high tech business,” said Tom Beever, president of NetLander. “We took advantage of the wealth of advice we received from the incubator staff and network of resources available to the incubator tenants,” he added.

During their first year of operation, NetLander relied heavily on the FNBIC’s access to a business network of professionals, including bankers, lawyers and accountants, who provided free consultation on the issues surrounding the launch of a business. In addition, the Incubator’s rates and established fixtures allowed NetLander to save money, focus on generating cash and grow their company. As NetLander entered into its second and third years as an Incubator tenant, they began to notice that being an Incubator tenant also carried some weight in the community.

“We found being an Incubator tenant opened many doors for us with various contractors and divisions within NASA-KSC, who truly wanted to see us succeed,” Beever said. “It was the support from the incubator and our client contractors that allowed us to become nominated for Subcontractor of the Year in our second year in business.”

NetLander is an Information Technology Management Company, which focuses on JAVA and C++ Software Development and Unix System Administration. NetLander also develops and markets products for the Manufacturing Industry based on a NASA Licensed Technology for distributing data in near-real time over the Internet.

Established by the Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) in 1996, the Florida/NASA Business Incubation Center helps accelerate the success of technology-based, small businesses by providing affordable space, shared office services and fulfilling enterprise development needs to give companies a strong competitive edge.  The Incubator is managed through a joint partnership of Florida’s TRDA, NASA-Kennedy Space Center and Brevard Community College.
