GLOBAL ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH (GEER) SECURES FIRST LARGE-QUANTITY SALE OF NEWLY PATENTED, ENERGY-SAVING DEVICE

LUTZ, Fla. -- Global Energy & Environmental Research (GEER), a firm that specializes in energy-saving technologies, recently sold 40 units of their Exhaust Energy Recovery (EER+) System to two, energy-saving companies in the Tampa/Hillsborough County area.  This is the first, large-quantity sale of the unit since it was developed one year ago.

The EER+ System recaptures treated, indoor air (which is usually wasted when exhausted from the building) and combines it with reclaimed condensate water.  This combination of air and water accomplishes the necessary sub-cooling and de-superheating needed to operate Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems up to 70 percent more efficiently.

Honeywell, Inc., an energy saving company (ESCO) that works to reduce energy costs for firms in Hillsborough County, purchased 30 EER+ units for installation into Wimauma Elementary School.  In addition, TECO/BGA, another ESCO, recently purchased 10 units, which will be installed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.  All 40 units totaled an approximate $40,000 sale for the company.

“Through our direct and distributor sales outlets throughout the world, we are receiving tremendous interest in the EER+ System,” said Keith Glaze, vice president of operations for GEER.  “This 40-unit sale is a benchmark for our company and is a good predictor of the type of business we can anticipate in the future.”

Currently, GEER is pitching the EER+ System to the Ministry of Energy in Sweden and to several engineering firms who plan to speculate the equipment in 22 Florida post offices.  Hiensch Engineering, a Holland company that builds multi-level commercial buildings, is in the final stage of negotiations with GEER on using the EER+ System in up to 400 new buildings throughout Europe and China – a potentially lucrative sale.

The EER+ product resulted from GEER’s participation in Florida’s Investment Initiative for Energy Technologies program, which is administered by Florida’s Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA).  Through the program, TRDA awarded GEER with a $237,113 grant to develop the EER+ System.  GEER will replenish the program’s funding through a royalty arrangement based on the gross sales of the units.  To date, seven Florida companies, including GEER, have received a total of $4 million from the program to commercialize energy-related technologies.  With the most recent sale, the company expects to begin replenishing the program through royalty payments by the end of summer.
