PARAMETRIC SOLUTIONS INC. JOINS PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FREE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SMALL BUSINESSES

JUPITER, Fla. – Parametric Solutions Inc. is the latest company to join the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) as an alliance partner. Through the SATOP, the firm will provide free technical assistance to small businesses throughout the State of Florida.

As the largest engineering services and product development firm of their type in Florida, Parametric Solutions provides a variety of services, including product development, rapid prototyping, industrial design, 3-D complex solid modeling, finite element analysis, kinematic analysis and fluid flow analysis. The firm employs 30 engineers, modelers, drafters and checkers who average more than 13 years of experience each.

"Although our experience is centered in the jet engine industry, we have worked on a vast array of projects from tea kettles to micro turbines to aluminum railroad cars," said Scott Doyle, solutions engineer for Parametric Solutions Inc.

The firm first learned about the SATOP while attending a NASA exposition in Miami nearly one year ago. After visiting with Bob Allen, SATOP program manager, and learning about how the program has made a significant impact on Florida small businesses, Parametric Solutions decided to enlist. They were officially accepted as a partner in late July.

"Our engineers are used to dealing with high-tech issues; they thrive on new and complex challenges," Doyle said. "We are very interested to see what sorts of technological challenges the small businesses bring forth." Managers with Parametric Solutions are in the process of reviewing some existing SATOP challenges and determining how they could best provide assistance.

"Having only been in business since 1993, Parametric Solutions is a young, forward-thinking company that has the talent, ambition and excitement we need for this program," said Bob Allen, who is also the deputy director of the Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA), the parent organization for the SATOP. "They will not only help us solve challenges, but serve as a strong role model for small businesses that are in their start-up phase."

The SATOP is a free service designed to speed the transfer of space technology to the private sector by giving free technological assistance to small businesses to help them solve their problems and increase their chances of succeeding. Made up of a group of 25 companies, universities, colleges and NASA centers, the SATOP finds professionals within these companies who volunteer their time and expertise in solving the challenges brought forth by the inquiring businesses. Since the program’s inception in 1995, the SATOP has received more than 1,000 requests for technical assistance. In the past two years only, an Independent Marketing Research reported that SATOP created 500 jobs, saved 460 jobs and infused $70 million into the Florida economy.
