Since 1997, TRDA’s energy programs have helped create or retain jobs, as well as infuse millions of dollars into the Florida economy.
- The Investment Initiative for Energy Technologies program granted up to $1 million per small business to develop energy-efficient technologies. Program results included:
- 22 new jobs created
- 18 existing jobs retained
- $300,000+ in new sales revenue generated
- $13.9 million leveraged in public/private investments
- 6 new technology patents developed
- Venture Smart Florida program granted awards between $5,000 and $30,000 to help technology companies procure business services to improve company strategies, tactics, management, product development and marketing. Program results included:
- 57 new jobs created
- 14 existing jobs retained
- $16 million in new sales revenue generated
- $3.6 million leveraged in private/public investments
- 5 new technology patents developed
- Industries of the Future program provided federal funding to Florida’s fiberglass industry to develop and implement new technologies that would reduce energy use, increase pollution prevention and help the company become more cost-competitive.
